Winter Solstice Workshop

Every year Sand14 hosts a two day workshop, 20th-21st December, at its award-winning design studio within the World Heritage Site on Mainland, Orkney.

This is an intensive and rigorous debate of new ideas, centred on a key issue or current theme in mobile telecoms (previous topics include PTT, 4G, and Life Caching).

The workshop develops archaeological inspiration from many of the major prehistoric monuments nearby. It culminates in the winter solstice sunrise at the passage grave of Maeshowe, an extraordinary experience of light and shadow that rivals Stonehenge.

The workshop is usually by invitation only, but applications are occasionally considered.
