High-tech design and innovation at the edge.
New futures inspired by archaeologies of the past.
In prehistory, this island archipelago of Orkney, Scotland, was a centre of silicon technology, a site of stone monuments and artefacts that shaped the world. Working at Sand14 is to work at the centre of an ongoing five thousand year-old technological project - not to look back, but to look forward with an enduring vision.
We believe that landscape informs and inspires the creation of futures. Different landscapes can create different futures. For we are not in the business of creating a single universal future, but in seeding the possibility for many futures.
Technology does not make the future. Only people working with technology can make the future, which is always unexpected and changes from place to place. Our designs and innovations are made to be mutable, fluid, and always open to change by people and place.
We are Sand14.
