Camerastone

This prototype has been seeded into the Orkney community to create multiple possible future wireless camera devices. It is not a cameraphone, but instead captures an experience of the world and contains it inside the stone for generations. Kinetically powered, and integrated into the social lives of families and friends this is a keepsake, a frame, a gift, and much else.

The Skara Brae Project

This project is a response to the problem of the proliferation of bandwidth in mobile telecoms. With the almost unquestioned development of increasing bandwidth, how does this transform into successful services and an evolution in handsets? Sand14 is developing a sociomaterial design solution to this issue, drawing on research that weaves together extraordinary artefacts from the local prehistoric village of Skara Brae, with advanced multi-sensory mobile telecommunications.

A prototype mobile device is currently under development, and will be showcased at the next Winter Solstice Workshop.
